UIPM 2025 Pentathlon U17 World Championships: Women’s Qualification

Another global event began with Farida Khalil of Egypt out in front after two heats of Women’s Qualification at the UIPM 2025 Pentathlon U17 World Championships in Johannesburg (RSA).

The 14-year-old phenomenon finished the first heat with an untouchable 1,400 points, having performed best in Obstacle (27.05sec) and Swimming (2min 18.46sec). A very rapid Laser Run time of 9:38.72 enabled Megan Kleynhans of South Africa to finish 3rd, a distant 30sec behind Jazmin Balzsay of Hungary and 45sec behind Khalil (EGY). Jasmin Freide of Germany was the top performer in Fencing with 28 victories.

Annachiara Allara of Italy was a clear winner in the second, slightly slower heat, scoring 1,346 points with Tatiana Thomatos (RSA) and Leah Kocher of Switzerland within 20sec of the heat winner. Kocher (SUI) was the standout fencer with 27 touches, before Allara (ITA) timed 30.51 to win a very competitive Obstacle round. Wakana Uchiyama of Japan bossed Swimming with a brilliant 2:11.05 before Edda Strauss (GER) set the best Laser Run time of 10:15.07 to finish 4th overall.
